“Sons of Rest” – The members of the Kings Heath Park branch of the “Sons of Rest” met on Thursday night in the assembly rooms of the Hare and Hounds Hotel for their annual dinner.  Mr. G. Handley was in the chair supported by Councillor S.A. Lamplugh, Mr. L.C. Tipper, Mr. Leslie Hanson, Mr. C.A. Price (vice-presidents[1]), etc.
In proposing the toast of the branch Mr. L.C. Tipper said his association with the movement practically began with the Kings Heath branch.  Touching on the long hoped for new rest room, Mr. Tipper said that from the recent statement by Mr. James for the Watson Trust, there was a likelihood that before long the branch would have their new room.
Mr. Handley, responding, also agreed that the prospect of having the new rooms at an early date was a good one.  The branch had a high reputation throughout the Federation and he trusted it would be maintained.  He expressed the branch’s thanks to Councillor Lamplugh for all he had done in the interest of the branch.
Mr. Leslie Hanson proposed the toast of the friends of the movement, including the Parks Committee.
Councillor Lamplugh, replying, said the committee would do everything they could to push forward the scheme for a new room and in other ways, but they had to exercise caution in expenditure.
Responding to thanks offered to the officers of the branch proposed by Mr. Price, Mr. Williams, the hon. secretary, praised the efforts Councillor Lamplugh had made on behalf of the provision of a new room.

156 All Saints Road,
Kings Heath,
Birmingham. 14.

Dear Councillor Lamplugh,

The lady members of the King’s Heath Bowling Club meet during the winter months at the Park House for a little whist drive second Tuesday and Thursday in the month, that is two drives (just about 16 members) in the month.  Now they are supposed to be out of the Park for 5 o’clock and that does not give them enough time.  Now I am asking if you could speak for one hour extra making it 6 o’clock.  The ladies would be most pleased as there is not another place in King’s Heath they could go to.  So will you please do what you can.  We are having a meeting next Tuesday, so if you could let me know it can be brought up them.

I remain,
Yours Sincerely,
(Mrs.) F. Sharp.
(President)

In this connection the General Manager informed the Committee that he had also been approached some time ago and had informed Mrs. Sharp that it was not possible to grant the request.

2969   Resolved:-  That the action of the Clerk in the above matter be approived, and that he be instructed to forward a further letter to Mrs. Sharp conveying to her the decision of the Committee.
